Beginning April 22, 2009, to call Nicaragua you have to add a 2 before dialing land line telephone numbers and an 8 before dialing cell phone numbers. 505 is the country code.
Like this:
(505) (2) (xxx-xxxx) – Land lines
(505) (8) (xxx-xxxx) – Cell phones
This means many of the listings you will see in print and online will be out-of-date. If you see a 7 digit number and you don’t know what kind of number it is (land or mobile) you might have to try both prefixes.
